Lithology and Thickness
Taking the 2781–3018.2 m interval of WC19-1-3 well as the stratotype section, this formation refers to a sequence of fluvial alluvial and diluvial clastic rocks and tuff above the pre-Tertiary and below the Eocene Wenchang Fm. It is a sequence of dark brown and grayish white, thick-bedded and massive sandstone and pebbly sandstone with peat and siltstone in the Western part of the basin and tuff-dominated pyroclastic rocks with variegated beds in the East. The total thickness is 0–958 m. At the seismic section this formation is equivalent with the horizon between reflectors T9–T8.
